FISHING REPORT FOR THE CISCO CHAIN
IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE INFORMATION ON OTHER LAKES IN THE AREA, PLEASE DO SO.
LAST WEEK, THE WATER TEMPERATURE DIPPED INTO THE UPPER 50s. BUT AS OF THIS WRITING 9/25/25 WATER TEMPERATURE STARTED 63 IN THE MORNING AND TOPPED OUT AT 67 IN THE AFTERNOON ON MOST OF THE CISOC CHAIN IS NOW
FINALY WATER TEMPERATURES ARE STARING TO LEVEL OFF AND THATS GOOD NEW FOR ANGLERS COMING UP OR HEADING OUT THIS WEEKEND. As we get closer to October, fishing has been getting better every day.
WALLEYE – Again, not too many legal (15 inches) are being caught. Most are still under 15 inches (5 over 15” is legal limit) but at least I hear more anglers are caching more than they have. I’ve not fished for Walleyes or have caught one this last month but heard the ones that are biting are still found near weed edges in (10 to 12 feet) and again, the evening bite has been better than during the day. I still believe fishing mid lake humps and deeper water over (rock/gravel) during the day is still maybe a tow or three weeks away. Jigging fat head minnows and crawlers have been better than most baits..
PERCH – I fished a few days and did well catching close to our limit, but they are scattered. But once you get on a school it’s worth your time on the water. Early in the day we found nice Perch in 4-foot weeds. Later in the day we had to start fishing a bit deeper and really did well around 6 to 8 feet of water. I did not try this location, but I keep hearing Perch are still being caught deeper (12 to 17 feet) on mud bottoms. Crawlers and crappie minnow’s have been mostly used.
CRAPPIE – Have slowed a bit but are being caught in deeper cabbage (7 to 10 feet). Most anglers like fishing for perch, are using slip bobbers with crappie minnows or crawlers. You could try fishing for Cappies that are suspending just above deep (12′ to 14′) weeds. Still try downed trees (deeper end) 10 to 14 feet.
BLUEGILL – Same as the last few weeks. Gill being boated are HUGE (10 inch). I’ve caught a bunch in 4 to 6 feet weeds near shorelines on crawlers. Like most pan fishing, anglers are using crawlers under slip bobbers.
Sm. BASS – Nothing has really changed on Bass from last week. Of the two bass, Smallies have been hot. The (6′ to 9′) range in weeds has been the best spot. A few have been caught deeper 10 to 12 feet with 1/16-ounce jig tipped with a crawler. But I wouldn’t give up on throwing medium plastics.
Lg. BASS – Haven’t heard a lot on them, but a couple were caught 4 to 6 feet vegetation using medium (plastics) artificial.
MUSKY – Muskie bite really picked up, but it’s a weather thing. Overcast rainy day has been much better, but some nice size have been raised but not landed. Most have been in shallow weeds on bigger plastics. Top water baits have been working better in evenings and the SUCKER bite using a QUICK STRIKE RIGS is what many are using.
NORTHERN PIKE – Same as the last three weeks. A lot of Northerns are being caught this year over 20 inches. They are still being caught everywhere on all baits. Work weeds 6′ to 10′ but as I have posted before, look for cooler water because just 2 degrees can make a big difference. Small to med plastics have been working well as has live bait.
I’m STILL hearing anglers are not catching fish where they have in the past. Locations change for different reasons. KEEP MOVING AND TRY NEW AREAS.
ALLNORTHWOODS WILL KEEP PASSING ON ANY FISHING REPORTS AND INFORAMION WE GET FROM LOCAL GUIDES AND ANGLERS ON A WEEKLY BASIS.
PLEASE RELEASE WALLEYE OVER 24 INCHES. THESE BIG GIRLS PRODUCE MORE EGGS AND LARGER FISH FOR THE FUTURE.
