FISHING REPORT FOR THE CISCO CHAIN OF LAKES

IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE INFORMATION ON OTHER LAKES IN THE AREA, PLEASE DO SO.

As of this writing, 9/4 the water temperatures have been fluctuating in the lower to mid 60s on most lakes on the chain.

LAST WEEK I SAID FISHING SHOULD BE GETTING BETTER SOON. WELL, WITH COOLER WATER TEMPS, IM HAPPY TO REPORT THAT FISHING IS FINALLY PICKING UP.

.

WALLEYE – The evening bite IS GETTING BETTER near rock shorelines. I haven’t heard a lot of walleyes being caught yet, but some are still being found on weed (10 to 12 feet) edges. I have only heard of a few Walleyes being caught in deep (over 20 feet). Find the mid lake humps and deeper (rock/gravel) and keep an eye on your electronics and you should some fish. Jigging with fat head minnows or crawlers under a slip float has been producing.

PERCH – Early morning perch are being found on shorelines with weeds. During the day you can usually find in 8-to-10-foot weeds, but nice size perch are being caught on deeper (15 to 20 feet) mud flats. I haven’t tried this yet, but I’ve been told by many that crappie minnows are out fishing crawler.

CRAPPIE – Are still being caught in cabbage but just a little deeper (8 to 10 feet) weed edges.  Slip bobbers with crappie minnows or crawlers has been working, but do not overlook small plastics in your tackle box.

BLUEGILL – Are being caught between anywhere between 4 to 10 feet of water in weeds on crawlers. Also, fishing the edges of the lily pads have been a good spot. Again, most of the Bluegills caught were truly good size.

Sm. BASS – Have been in (10 to 20′) rocks and or transition areas (weeds to rock). Don’t be surprised if you get a few Walleyes too.  1/16-ounce jig with a crawler can catch both.

Lg. BASS – I haven’t heard much about Lg Mouths but working any topwater lures that make noise over vegetation might land a few.

MUSKY – The Muskie bite has been getting much better. Most of the Muskies being caught or follow ups have still been in shallow weeds. Bents Camp Musky League started yesterday and many Topwater baits were being used, but some just started using Musky suckers under a float. I’ll update the Musky report as soon as I hear results.

NORTHERN PIKE – Are everywhere and being caught with live and artificial baits. It seems most are being landed in shallow to mid-range water. 6-to-10-foot weeds. I will say, A LOT are over 24 inches.

I’m STILL hearing anglers are not catching fish where they have in the past. Locations change for different reasons. KEEP MOVING AND TRY NEW AREAS.

ALLNORTHWOODS WILL KEEP PASSING ON ANY FISHING REPORTS AND INFORAMION WE GET FROM LOCAL GUIDES AND ANGLERS ON A WEEKLY BASIS.

PLEASE RELEASE WALLEYE OVER 24 INCHES. THESE BIGGER FISH PRODUCE MORE EGGS & LARGER WALLEYE FOR THE FUTURE
