FISHING REPORT FOR THIS COMING WEEKEND

THIS FISHING REPORT IS FROM THE CISCO CHAIN OF LAKES

IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE INFORMATION ON OTHER LAKES IN THE AREA, PLEASE DO SO.

It’s been different locating fish so far this year. The warmer weather then cold fronts have had effects on some spawning. As of this writing, I’m pretty sure water temperatures will still be in the mid to upper 60s at the end of the week into the weekend. That could change with the upper 80s the next couple of days and 90s Sunday.

I WOULD SAY FISHING HAS BEEN FAIR TO GOOD.

WALLEYE – Have been found in the wood (6′ to 8′) and/or weed edges in (7 to 9 feet). Early morning and evening bite has been better.
Jigs with fat head minnows, crawlers and leeches under a slip float has been the norm. Of course, you will catch a lot of 14 3/4″ fish but hang in there.

PERCH – Are being caught in 6 to 9 feet. Find any new vegetation but move around and work the area to find the school. Some have been found in submerged trees also. You’ll have to go through them to get nicer size fish.

CRAPPIE – Of the panfish species, these have been the most being caught. Best to start shallow on shorelines with green vegetation (4′ to 5′) If you’re not getting bites, keep (adjusting) moving a little deeper until you find them. Cappie minnows, a piece of crawler and regular size leeches under a slip bobber has been working well.

BLUEGILL – Males are being caught near shorelines in 3 to 4 feet of water on crawler. So far, the females being caught still have eggs. Bluegill start to spawn when water temperatures reach 67 degrees, and most areas have been 64. With the warmer weather coming this weekend, I’m thinking spawning should be done by next weekend.

Sm. BASS – Have been in deeper (9′ to 12′) weeds.
Lg. BASS – nothing to report.

MUSKY – some smaller muskies have been caught on smaller spinner baits and chubs, but nothing too big.

NORTHERN PIKE – Are everywhere and being caught with all bait.

I keep hearing anglers are not catching fish where they have in the past, but locations change for different reasons. That could be a subject I will cover in the near future.

ALLNORTHWOODS WILL KEEP PASSING ON ANY FISHING REPORTS AND INFORAMION WE GET FROM LOCAL GUIDES AND ANGLERS ON A WEEKLY BASIS.
