There is a NEW LIMIT ON WALLEYE for WISCONSIN- MICHIGAN BOUNDARY WATERS (Cisco Chain). Even though in the Wisconsin DNR 2026-2027 hook and line fishing regulation book (page 76) states the daily limit for walleye is 5 over 15 inches, their website says only 3 walleyes over 15 inches can be kept on (Mamie, West Bay & Big Lake) the Cisco Chain of lakes. But the limit of walleyes on the Chain for MICHIGAN LAKES is still 5 over 15 inches.

EVEN WITH THE FEW WARM DAYS EARLIER THIS WEEK (DEPENDING ON THE LAKE AND TIME OF DAY) THE WATER TEMPERATIRE IS 69 to 72 DEGREES.

WALLEYE – GOOD. Walleyes are being found everywhere and at different depth. A few have been shown on electronic on mid-lake humps topping out at 10 feet but won’t commit to baits offered. Same goes for mid depth rock bars. Some have been caught in 6 to 10 feet weeds and like last week, in the deeper end (10 to12 feet) of drowned trees. Others have been located on deeper weed edges too and deeper mud flats. Leeches with slip bobbers and fathead minnows are still the bait to use. As always, the evening bite in shallower weeds and rock shorelines when they come up to feed is still your best chance to land some keepers.

PERCH – GOOD. Perch just don’t seem to be schooling up like they have in the past. Most are being caught in 6 to 8 feet, in cabbage. Bigger perch seem to be holding near weed edges (8 to 10 feet) Regular size leeches, crappie minnow and crawlers is still the bait being used, but small plastic tipped with a piece of crawler is working too.

CRAPPIE – GOOD. Still finding them on weed edges in 6 to 10 feet but most are still being found near shorelines weeds 5 to 7 feet early in the morning and again in the evening. Crappie minnows and small jigs tipped with a piece of crawler or plastic has been working.

BLUEGILL – GOOD. Nothing still hasn’t changed from last few weeks; Gills are being caught everywhere on the chain in 4 to 6 feet weeds. A piece of crawler, wax worms, beaver tails are the bait to use.

SM MOUTH BASS- VERY GOOD.  Smallies are being found on structure and in cover. Rock/gravel points and 4 to 6 feet shoreline weeds. Medium plastics, 3″ worms rigs are working well. Even jigs tipped with fathead minnows and crawlers are still working too. In the evening you might find a few walleyes in these locations also.

LG. MOUTH BASS – FAIR. I heard the Lg. Mouths bite is getting better and most are still being found near boat houses using top-water and buzz baits, but also over thick weed.

MUSKY – GOOD. With the water temps in the low 70s, anglers are casting bigger crankbaits, bucktails and top-waters baits over shallow weed flats. I’m thinking in a few weeks suckers could be the best live bait to use.

NORTHERN PIKE – GOOD.  With the water temps lowering a bit, pike fishing is still good, and shoreline weeds is a good location. ALL bait, live and artificial have been productive.

PLEASE RELEASE WALLEYES OVER 24 INCHES. THESE BIG GIRLS PRODUCE MORE EGGS AND LARGER WALLEYES IN THE FUTURE.
