FISHING REPORT FOR THE CISCO CHAIN OF LAKES

IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE INFORMATION ON OTHER LAKES IN THE AREA, PLEASE DO SO.

As of this writing, 8/28 the water temperatures have been fluctuating in the mid to upper 60s on most lakes on the chain.

TO OUR SUBSCRIBERS AND VISITERS. MAYBE IT’S JUST TO GET ANGLERS TO HEAD NORTH, BUT SOME REPORTS SAY “FISHING IS REALLY PICKING UP”. WELL, AT ALLNORTHWOODS.COM WE LIKE TO BE HONEST WITH PEOPLE. AS OF THIS WRITING FISH ARE NOT JUMPING IN THE BOAT LIKE OTHERS HAVE WRITEN. THAT BEING SAID, I WOULD SAY FISHING IS STILL FAIR, BUT IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS, I DO BELIEVE FISHING WILL GET MUCH BETTER.

AGIAN, I argue the point that there was NEVER a summer pattern this year and fishing has been challenging, but with a few changes fish can still be caught.

WALLEYE – Are being caught in 6 to 8 feet in green cabbage, while others are deeper, being found on weed edges in (10 to 12 feet) weeds. Early morning and evening bite is always better. I have only heard of a few Walleyes being caught in deep (over 20 feet). I’m thinking the better bites on mid lake humps and deeper water over (rock/gravel) during the day is still 2 or 3 weeks away. Jigs with fat head minnows, crawlers and leeches under a slip float has been the norm. Of course, you will catch a lot of 14 3/4″ fish but hang in there. Like always, it’s a number game.

PERCH – Are being caught in 4 to 6 feet near shorelines in the morning and 7 to 9 feet weeds later in the day.  Find any vegetation (cabbage) but move around that area. Some nice perch are being caught in 9 to 11 feet weed lines on small plastics. You’ll have to go through the small ones to get some keepers.

CRAPPIE – Are being caught in green cabbage (7 to 9 feet).  Most anglers are using slip bobbers with crappie minnows or crawlers. Small plastics have also been used.  I’ve been told some Cappies are being found suspending just above deep (12′ to 14′) weeds.

BLUEGILL – Are being caught between 4 to 6 feet of water in weeds on crawlers. Again, most of the Bluegills caught were truly good size.

Sm. BASS – Have been in (6′ to 9′) weeds. Transition areas (weeds to rock) in deeper 10 to 12 feet have been producing a few nice small mouths. 1/16-ounce jig tipped with a crawler works best. YES CRAWLERS.

Lg. BASS – Have been caught in 4 to 6 feet vegetation. Early and evening hours Medium (plastics) artificial are being used along with topwater bait.

MUSKY – With the cooler water temps the Muskie bite has been picking up. Most of the Muskies being caught or follows have been in shallow weeds on medium bucktails or similar lures. Top water baits have been better for the evenings.

NORTHERN PIKE – Are everywhere and being caught with all bait. Work weeds 6′ to 10′ but look for cooler water, just 2 degrees can make a big difference. small to med plastics have been working well.

I’m STILL hearing anglers are not catching fish where they have in the past. Locations change for different reasons. KEEP MOVING AND TRY NEW AREAS.

ALLNORTHWOODS WILL KEEP PASSING ON ANY FISHING REPORTS AND INFORAMION WE GET FROM LOCAL GUIDES AND ANGLERS ON A WEEKLY BASIS.
