FISHING REPORT FOR THE CISCO CHAIN

IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE INFORMATION ON OTHER LAKES IN THE AREA, PLEASE DO SO.

I DID NOT POST A FISHING REPORT LAST WEEK, BUT TRULY NOTHING CHANGED EXCEPT THE WATER TEMPERATURE DIPPED INTO THE UPPER 50s. I APOLOGIZE BECAUSE I SHOULD HAVE POSTED THAT.

The past few weeks, the weather has not been friendly to anglers. With hotter days, then cooler days with rain, fishing has slowed down a bit. That being said, this week (9/18/25) water temperatures have been fluctuating in the lower to mid 60s on most lakes on the chain.

WALLEYE – Not many legal (15 inches) are being caught as most have been 12 to 14 inches. I’ve been told the ones that are biting are being found on weed edges in (10 to 12 feet) and the evening bite has been better than during the day. Again, I’m thinking the fall bite on mid lake humps and deeper water over (rock/gravel) during the day is still maybe a week or two away. Jigs with fat head minnows, crawlers and leeches under a slip float has been the norm. Of course, you will catch a lot of 14 3/4″ fish but hang in there. Like always, it’s a number game.

PERCH – This might sound lame be they are all over. You can catch a ton but keeps are being caught in 4 to 6 feet near weeds. Others are deeper 12 to 17 feet of water with mud bottoms. Don’t give up on 9 to 11 feet weed lines either. You’ll have to go through the small ones to get some keepers, but this tasty fish will keep your bobber under the water.

CRAPPIE – Some are being caught deeper in green cabbage (7 to 10 feet).  Most anglers are using slip bobbers with crappie minnows or crawlers. Also, I’ve been told some Cappies are suspending just above deep (12′ to 14′) weeds. Downed trees (deeper end) 10 to 14 feet has been good too.

BLUEGILL -Anglers are finding HUGE (10 inch) GILLS between 4 to 6 feet of water in weeds on crawlers. Some are being found in downed trees with crappie also. Most are using crawlers under slip bobbers.

Sm. BASS – Of the two bass, Smallies have been hot. The (6′ to 9′) range in weeds has been the best spot.  A few have been caught deeper 10 to 12 feet with 1/16-ounce jig tipped with a crawler.

Lg. BASS – Haven’t heard a lot on them, but a couple were caught 4 to 6 feet vegetation using medium (plastics) artificial.

MUSKY – With the cooler water temps the Muskie bite was picking up, but then we got a few hot days. Some Muskies being caught or follow ups have been in shallow weeds on medium bucktails. Top water baits have been working better in evenings and the SUCKER bite using a QUICK STRIKE RIGS has been picking up. NOTE: Two Muskies were caught by new angles using small plastics while fishing for panfish. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN A FISH WILL TAKE YOUR BAIT. PUT IT IN FRONT OF THEM AND THE FISH OF 10,000 CAST IS LANDED IN TWO CAST. LOL

NORTHERN PIKE – More Norhtern are being caught this year than any other year that I can remember. They are still being caught everywhere on all different baits. Work weeds 6′ to 10′ but as I have posted before, look for cooler water because just 2 degrees can make a big difference. Small to med plastics have been working well as has live bait.

I’m STILL hearing anglers are not catching fish where they have in the past. Locations change for different reasons. KEEP MOVING AND TRY NEW AREAS.

ALLNORTHWOODS WILL KEEP PASSING ON ANY FISHING REPORTS AND INFORAMION WE GET FROM LOCAL GUIDES AND ANGLERS ON A WEEKLY BASIS.

PLEASE RELEASE WALLEYE OVER 24 INCHES. THESE BIG GIRLS PRODUCE MORE EGGS AND LARGER FISH FOR THE FUTURE.
