There is a NEW LIMIT ON WALLEYE for WISCONSIN- MICHIGAN BOUNDARY WATERS (Cisco Chain). Even though in the Wisconsin DNR 2026-2027 hook and line fishing regulation book (page 76) states the daily limit for walleye is 5 over 15 inches, their website says only 3 walleyes over 15 inches can be kept on (Mamie, West Bay & Big Lake) the Cisco Chain of lakes. But the limit of walleyes on the Chain for MICHIGAN LAKES is still 5 over 15 inches.

DEPENDING ON THE LAKE AND TIME OF DAY, THE WATER TEMPERATIRE IS 70 to 73 DEGREES. With the cooler days and nights next week, I’m thinking those numbers will drop a
few degrees.

THERE ARE MUSKY SUCKERS IN THE BAIT SHOP NOW AND I STILL HAVE LEECHES.

WALLEYE – GOOD. Not many but some Walleyes are being caught on shallower mid-lake humps. But like last week’s report, most are being boated in 7 to 10 feet weeds edges and a few the end (10 to12 feet) of drowned trees. Leeches with slip bobbers and fathead minnows are still the bait. As always, the evening bite in shallower weeds and rock shorelines when they come up to feed is still your best chance to land some keepers.

PERCH – GOOD. Some larger perch have been reported in 6 to 8 feet, in cabbage. But bigger perch still seem to be holding near weed edges (8 to 10 feet) Crappie minnow and crawlers are still working, but small plastic tipped with a piece of crawler can work too.

CRAPPIE – GOOD. Nothing has changed from last week. There holding on weed edges in 6 to 10 feet, but most are still being found near shorelines weeds 5 to 7 feet early in the morning and again in the evening. Crappie minnows and small jigs tipped with a piece of crawler or plastic has been working.

BLUEGILL – GOOD. Again, nothing still hasn’t changed from last few weeks; Gills are being caught everywhere on the chain in 4 to 6 feet weeds. A piece of crawler, wax worms, beaver tails are the bait to use.

SM MOUTH BASS- GOOD. Rock/gravel points and 4 to 6 feet shoreline weeds seem to be the norm. Medium plastics, 3″ worms rigs are still working well. Even jigs tipped with fathead minnows and crawlers are still working too. In the evening you might find a few walleyes in these locations also.

LG. MOUTH BASS – FAIR. I heard the Lg. Mouths bite is getting better and most are still being found near boat houses using top-water and buzz baits, but also over thick weed.

MUSKY – GOOD. The musky bite is picking up. I have not heard of monsters being caught, but there has been more upper 20″ low 30″ being boated. Crankbaits, bucktails and top-waters baits over shallow weed flats. I have large and medium suckers in the bait shop now, but I haven’t heard if any muskies were hitting them yet.

NORTHERN PIKE – GOOD.  No wall hangers are being caught but pike fishing is still good, and shoreline weeds is a good location. ALL bait, live and artificial have been productive.

PLEASE RELEASE WALLEYES OVER 24 INCHES. THESE BIG GIRLS PRODUCE MORE EGGS AND LARGER WALLEYES IN THE FUTURE.
