CISCO CHAIN FISHING REPORT 6-25-26

There is a NEW LIMIT ON WALLEYE for WISCONSIN- MICHIGAN BOUNDARY WATERS (Cisco Chain). Even though in the Wisconsin DNR 2026-2027 hook and line fishing regulation book (page 76) states the daily limit for walleye is 5 over 15 inches, their website says only 3 walleyes over 15 inches can be kept on (Mamie, West Bay & Big Lake) the Cisco Chain of lakes. But the limit of walleyes on the Chain for MICHIGAN LAKES is still 5 over 15 inches.

NOT MUCH HAS CHANGED FROM LAST WEEK AS THE WATER TEMPS ARE STILL HOLDING AROUND 68 DEGREES, and 6 to 12 FEET IS STILL THE DEPTH TO FISH.

WALLEYE – FAIR to GOOD. Some anglers are having luck catching walleyes in weeds using fathead minnows, but the bait that’s really doing well is leeches.  6 to 12 feet of water on weed edges has been producing fair size fish. Like last week, Mid-lake humps topping out at 8 to14 feet have been producing as has rock/gravel. DO NOT overlook the evening bite in shallower weeds and shorelines when they come up to feed.

PERCH – GOOD. The perch bite is getting better. They are starting to school and 4 to 7 feet in cabbage has been the spot. Crawler and crappie minnows are working well. The deeper end of wood also has working too.

CRAPPIE – FAIR to GOOD. The crappie bite has slowed but again, Anglers have been finding crappie suspended in deeper water, but shoreline weeds and wood in 6 to 8 feet is doing well. Crappie minnows and/or crawlers is the bait to use.

BLUEGILL – GOOD. This is the fish that is being caught everywhere on the chain in 4 to 6 feet weeds.  The best bait being used is wax worms.

SM MOUTH – GOOD. If you’re a Bass angler, the number of Smallies being caught has truly picked up. Same as last week, plastics are working in a bit deeper water over rocks.

Lg. BASS – GOOD.  Soft plastics (worms) has been productive around shoreline weeds.

MUSKY – GOOD. With the water in the 60s some nice size muskies being boated but nothing huge yet. mid-size (6 to 8 inch) plastics in 6 to 10 feet vegetation is the place to try.

NORTHERN PIKE – GOOD. Northern Pike are being caught everywhere. Most Northern caught in weeds but moved a little deeper. ALL bait, live and artificial have been productive.

PLEASE RELEASE WALLEYES OVER 24 INCHES. THESE BIG GIRLS PRODUCE MORE EGGS AND LARGER WALLEYES IN THE FUTURE.
