CISCO CHAIN FISHING REPORT 6/18/26

There is a NEW LIMIT ON WALLEYE for WISCONSIN- MICHIGAN BOUNDARY WATERS (Cisco Chain). Even though in the Wisconsin DNR 2026-2027 hook and line fishing regulation book (page 76) states the daily limit for walleye is 5 over 15 inches, their website says only 3 walleyes over 15 inches can be kept on (Mamie, West Bay & Big Lake) the Cisco Chain of lakes. But the limit of walleyes on the Chain for MICHIGAN LAKES is still 5 over 15 inches.
With the cooler weather, water temperatures dropped from mid 70s to upper 60s. the magic depth is 6 to 12 feet.
WALLEYE – FAIR to GOOD. With the water temps dropping 7 to 8 degrees in the last week, a few walleyes are being caught in 5 to 7 feet of vegetation using fathead minnows, but most have been under 15 inches. The keeper’s anglers are boating have been in 6 to 12 feet of water on weed edges and leeches have been the best bait right now but also jigs also with a piece of crawler have been working too. Mid-lake humps topping out at 8 to14 feet have been producing as has rock/gravel. DO NOT overlook the evening bite in shallower weeds and shorelines when they come up to feed. FISH OF THE WEEK
PERCH – GOOD. The perch bite is getting better. They are starting to school and 4 to 7 feet in cabbage has been the spot. Crawler and crappie minnows are working well.
CRAPPIE – FAIR to GOOD. The crappie bite has slowed some but Shoreline weeds 4 to 8 feet and the depths of 6 to 8 feet in wood has been productive. And crappie minnows and/or crawlers is the bait to use.
BLUEGILL – GOOD. The bite is truly great if this is the species you are after. The best bait being used id crawlers now.
SM MOUTH – GOOD. If you’re a Bass angler, the number of Smallies being caught has truly picked up. Soft plastics are working but as I wrote last report, try whatever works for you in 8 to 14 feet of water. Ive been told gravel or weed edges have been fair. CATCG & RELEASE UNTIL THE 20th.
Lg. BASS – FAIR. Was told they were bedding but, I have also heard a few nice sizes have been caught by anglers fishing with soft plastics.
MUSKY – FAIR/GOOD. Starting to pick up with some good size muskies being boated with mid-size plastics in 6 to 10 feet vegetation.
NORTHERN PIKE – GOOD. Northern Pike are being caught everywhere. Most Northern caught in weeds but moved a little deeper. ALL bait, live and artificial have been productive.
PLEASE RELEASE WALLEYES OVER 24 INCHES. THESE BIG GIRLS PRODUCE MORE EGGS AND LARGER WALLEYES IN THE FUTURE.
